Although this is a handy app, there are some major weaknesses. The general hematology values are ok, but you should still use whatever reference values your lab or equipment provide. Many of the calculators are handy, but also fairly simple. My main complaints are with the formulary. First, it is lacking many drugs that are regularly used in veterinary medicine, and also doesnt always provide dosages for parenteral routes, only PO. Second, you can not search by trade name. Say you want to look up dosages for Metacam, but dont remember the drug name...too bad. When you search for Meloxicam the trade name Metacam shows up under it, but you cant search for it. Also, acepromazine is only found under acetylpromazine, which most people in the US dont use. Ive had this app for over a year and was really hoping for some updates, especially to the formulary, but have been sadly disappointed. If the formulary was improved and updated regularly, Id probably give the app four stars, but as it stands, 2 is probably generous.
